The annual CIGS Irish-German video competition for final year students of German at Irish third level institutions takes place since 2022. The next deadline for the videos is 15 December 2023. There can be 2 group videos (2-4 students, length 4-7min, depending on the number of students involved) per institution. The videos should be in German and cover any aspect of Irish-German relations that the students find particularly interesting.
There will be an online event again in March 2024, with a general vote as well as the expert group (the German Ambassador to Ireland, the Irish Ambassador in Germany, the director of the Goethe-Institut Dublin, the director of the German-Irish Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the correspondent of the Irish Times in Berlin) and the students who created the three top-voted videos will be the recipients of generous prizes sponsored by the German-Irish Chamber of Industry and Commerce. It is envisaged that the prize-giving ceremony will take place in the Goethe-Institut Dublin in April/May 2024.
