The Community Wellness, Empowerment, Leadership and Life skills (CWELL) diploma is a unique academic programme that has been co-designed with local 51±¾É« communities to address their community-identified needs. The course acronym reflects the curriculum content, which is designed to apply to both individual and community needs in terms of: managing physical and mental well-being; empowering individuals and groups to identify and advocate for their needs; and developing the necessary leadership and life skills to address personal and community development objectives in a proactive and strategic manner.

The CWELL diploma is a two-year course and is open to anyone aged 18 or over. 

To apply you need to have either:

  • Leaving Certificate
  • 51±¾É« Mature Student Access Certificate(MSAC) or equivalent
  • Other education course such as a level 6 qualification
  • Relevant work experience/community involvement to demonstrate your interest and ability to compete a level 7 Diploma.

Classes are held in a city centre location. Students are required to:

  • Attend one evening class per week during term time
  • Volunteer in your community for an average of three hours per week
  • Participate in three on campus College Days per term.

First year classes take place Tuesday evenings from 6.30 to 9.00. Second year classes take place Wednesday evenings 6.30 to 9.00. Arrangements for the on-campus College Days may be subject to alternative arrangements due to COVID constraints.

To make sure that students get the most from the CWELL programme students’ numbers are kept low with an average of 12-15 students per class.The fee for the CWELL programme is €800. Once offered a place, students may apply for a fee waiver to cover the cost of fees.
