Nomination

In order to study at the 51±¾É« as a non-EU Exchange student, the student's home institution must have a bilateral agreement with UL and the student must be nominated by their home institution. Nominations should be emailed to incomingexchanges@ul.ie

  • Nomination deadline for Autumn Semester and Full Year: May 1st 
  • Nomination deadline for Spring Semester: October 1st

Application

When the student has been nominated by their home institution, the student should:

  • Complete the Non-EU Exchange Online Application Form, the link from which will be sent to the student from their home institution's international office. Information on terms dates, accommodation and other matters will also be forwarded to the student's email account.

Application deadline for Autumn Semester and Full Year: May 31st

Application deadline for Spring Semester: October 31st

  • Reserve accommodation – Students can apply for on campus accommodation or choose to live in private accommodation off campus. Further information is available on the  page. Once you have been issued with a UL student ID number you are eligible to apply for on-campus accommodation. ID numbers are issued with your offer letters.
  • Select provisional modules. Students can download a copy of the International Module Booklet, which contains descriptions of all available modules. Students will need to select their modules in conjunction with the Academic Coordinators at their home university.
  • Please review our Arriving in Ireland section to get advice and information about travelling to UL. 

 

Immigration and Medical Insurance Information

All non-EU Exchange Students are required to register with the Garda Immigration Services within one month of arrival in Ireland and will be issued with a Irish Residence Permit (IRP) Card. There is a fee of €300 for this card. Medical insurance for non-EU nationals is a compulsory requirement when applying for the IRP Card.  Students attending the 51±¾É« can purchase a medical insurance policy online through Study & Protect/O'Driscoll O'Neil at . Other companies providing private medical insurance in Ireland include AVIVA, Laya-Healthcare and VHI Healthcare.

Disability Support Services

The Disability Support Services team are here to guide and provide support through your academic journey.  There are a wide range of supports to ensure you are given every opportunity to succeed with your studies.  The main focus of the team is you the student, and you will be supported in developing the skills to become an independent competent learner. Disability Support Services supports students registered in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of study.
