Brief Description
The programme will create graduates who will be equipped to eliminate supply chain inefficiencies to enable their organisations become more competitive, agile and profitable. End-to-end visibility of the full supply chain is key to supply chain return on investment (ROI). In this Online Masters, students learn and can immediately apply best practice supply chain management skills through every link in the chain.

Student Orientation
Our two-week online orientation module prepares students for ongoing success across the programme. Students are introduced to and familiarised with the online learning model, including set-up on the platform, reading requirements, communication, workload and time management.
Module. Break. Repeat.
Only one module will run at any one time, and each taught module will run for a period of five weeks. This gives students the benefit of focusing their time and thinking exclusively about one area of supply chain management at each stage.

- Even though this is a fully online programme, many of the modules provide an opportunity to work in groups and collaborate with peers in different locations and working in different industry sectors. Remote working is now commonplace in real projects, and you’ll gain experiential knowledge of how to work in virtual teams when preparing group submissions.
- Cooperative E-tivities
- E-tivities are online activities where students and tutors can interact and give feedback to one another. They provide an excellent way for learners to share ideas and perspectives across different contexts and industry sectors. In effect, e-tivities help create an online learning community where everybody learns together.

- All necessary readings are provided through e-books and other online resources made available through the 51±¾É« library facilities.
Semester 1 |
Frameworks for Supply Chain Management This module provides students with an introduction to supply chain operations and online environment for students to work collaboratively and engage in a number of e-tivities. Students will participate in discussions regarding relevant global supply chain management topics and work individually and in groups to identify various framework practices. The module gives students an opportunity to explore supply chain activities within their own organisation and share experiences across different industries. |
Strategic Business This module introduces the learner to the basic framework and concepts of strategic management in different organisational and environmental contexts. Introduction to strategy, strategic management in practice, strategic analysis, resource competence and strategic capability, stakeholder expectations and organisational purposes, bases of strategic choices and options, strategy evaluation and selection. |

Operations Management Mathematical Modelling in Supply Chain Provides students with knowledge on mathematical models applicable to supply chains as well as modeling and software capabilities to apply mathematical models to supply chains. |

Semester 2 |
Marketing Technology Products The aim of this module is to develop the key marketing concepts in business generally and technology markets in particular, develop the students capability to analyse markets for technology products and/or services and assist them to analyse and develop a marketing plan for a technology company. |
Simulation Modelling in Supply Chains This module provides students with knowledge on discrete event simulation modeling and its application to supply chains. It also provides students with modelling and software capabilities to apply simulation to supply chains |

Semester 3 |
The purpose of this module will be to provide an integrated and comprehensive understanding of the merits, limitations and applicability of the diverse operations management approaches currently available for manufacturing and service enterprises. |
This module introduces and applies both basic and advanced quality statistics, appropriate for master black belt level Six Sigma, in the context of Supply Chain Performance Management |

Sales and Operations Planning (M) Integrated Business Planning techniques will be applied to students or case study firms in order to identify both the short term benefits of and effective S&OP implementation and the challenge of sustaining these improvements within the firm for the long term. Where possible the challenge of S&OP deployment will be examined for both industry and service type organisations. |

Semester 4 |
Thesis Proposal Preparation This module provides the student with information and resources on how to produce a thesis proposal. Students will have an opportunity to carry out a number of e-tivities to establish their research area of interest and will complete an ethics form regarding their proposed research design and methodology. The module is the first step for the student in establishing what are the steps required to carry out a detailed research project for their organisation and determine the standards of academic writing and presentations. |
Semester 5 |
Financial Management and Decision Making for SCM This module introduces non-business students to the fundamental concepts and practices of management accounting and finance. It provides students with the skills and knowledge necessary to identify the relevant financial information required to manage the financial and operating resources of a business. |
Supply Chain Risk Assessment and Forecasting This module aims to provide the supply chain manager with the tools to cope with the types of disruptions caused by uncertain economic cycles, consumer demands, natural and man-made disasters within the supply chain process. |

Thesis (Supply Chain Operations) This module requires students to embark on their independent research whilst linking in with their dedicated academic supervisor and Industry Thesis Champion. During this module students will begin to construct concise and original research and produce well supported written material. |

Semester 6 |
Thesis (Supply Chain Operations) This module requires students to continue to apply appropriate research, design and implementation methodologies to complete significant original research. Students will complete a thesis document and present their findings in a professional manner to the required academic level to an invited audience of academics and industry experts. |
(M) A MicroCred is a single module within a larger further award (eg. Certificate, Diploma, Masters). By taking a micro-credential you may be eligible to apply for a credit exemption should you progress to study for a further award.
- Applicants for a Master's programme must normally have a minimum second class Level 8 honours degree (QQI NFQ or other internationally recognised equivalent) in a relevant or appropriate subject, or equivalent prior learning that is recognised by the University as meeting this requirement.
- Applicants with a lower qualification may also be considered provided they can prove to have considerable industrial experience as well as evidence of the ability to study at Masters Level.
- Applicants must also satisfy the English Language Requirements* of the University.
- The University reserves the right to shortlist and interview applicants as deemed necessary.
Relevant experience
- Applicant must have a minimum of 2 years appropriate experience in a continuous improvement setting and be in a position to affect organisational change. Applicants should ideally be in a front line management role within their organisation.
- Those applicants not yet in a front line management role but with 3 or more years experience may also be considered.
