The Health Sciences Academy aims to ensure that routes to continuing professional development or education are as flexible as possible. This means that some modules can be taken on a standalone basis and can be accumulated into postgraduate certificates where indicated.  A menu of education opportunities are given below and a number of these link to the Health Sciences Academy educational initiatives. These include Continual and Professional Education (CPE) modules for nurses and midwives. 

 

This Masters programme is designed for all healthcare professionals and is designed to enhance graduates’ critical thinking and develop evidence-based practitioners as future leaders of effective services. People who take this course can specialise in a number of different areas including Primary and community care;

  • Health Management;
  • Leadership;
  • Quality and Safety; and
  • Lean.

The programme can be taken on a part-time or full-time basis.

The Doctorate in Healthcare Professional Practice will facilitate students to develop advanced skills in designing and conducting research and practice-based enquiry relevant to their own area of practice; these skills are applicable to a variety of careers in healthcare, government and non-profit (voluntary) organisations. The programme will highlight specialist and transferable research skills within a programme consisting of taught modules and research thesis over a three year period.

The Doctorate in Healthcare Professional Practice is open to a wide range of health and social care professionals, who have an active interest in practice-based research and professional practice issues, who wish to attain the highest level of professional and academic achievement and develop their careers within the health and social care arena. Relevance and application of the research to the professional environment will be a pivotal feature of the programme and reflection on practice will be integral to the learning process.

The Professional Doctorate in Healthcare Practice allows professionals in a variety of careers, including those working in healthcare, government and non-profit (voluntary) organisations, to advance skills in their own area of practice.

Nursing and Midwifery Planning and Development Units and the Centre for Nursing and Midwifery Education (LCNTR) support nursing and midwifery staff to undertake post-registration education programmes funded by the HSE.

 

The CEO of the UL Hospitals Group supports a CEO Sponsorship Programme for programmes in 51±¾É« for staff including administrative, health & social care professionals and support staff (excluding nursing and medical staff).
