Strategies for Supporting Women in Engineering in Industry and Academia
Monday, 19 October 2020

Our colleague Dr. Sinéad O’Keeffe recently took part in a Panel Discussion on “Strategies for Supporting Women in Engineering in Industry and Academia” as part of the IEEE Sensors Council Gujarat Chapter Women in Sensors Week. Sinéad was joined by researchers from industry and academia across the globe to discuss the current state of supports for women in engineering and strategies to improve gender balance in the field. Sinéad is Chair of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Sensors Council Women in Sensors Committee and also the Council’s Committee on Diversity and Inclusion. In addition to introducing new policies within the Council to support and promote female participation in various Council activities, she secured €10,000 funding from the IEEE Sensors Council to run a number of different Women in Sensors events globally in 2020 in conjunction with the Council’s local chapters.
