List of Proposed Projects and Thematic Areas for Bidvest Noonan

Project 1: Smart Waste Management and Community Engagement:

Design a smart waste management system for large buildings or campuses to improve recycling rates and contribute to the circular economy. Students should aim to achieve a waste to landfill reduction of 20%.

For example, students may develop systems to track waste volumes and sources to develop insights to reduce waste. They may seek to improve how waste materials are collected, segregated and recycled to improve output. They may focus on consultancy and education to achieve this goal.

Project 2: Energy Efficiency

Propose a project focused on reducing energy consumption in facilities. For example, students may propose smart building systems to ensure consumption aligns with occupancy. They may opt to focus on ensuring technologies used in the facility are energy efficient or on improved planning to minimise use of utilities and equipment. Students should aim to achieve a 5% reduction in energy use for a facility.

Project 3: Sustainable Procurement and Social Inclusion:

Students should design an initiative that promotes social inclusion by creating opportunities for minority groups and those with challenges accessing the job market to gain employment. This may involve designing employment and education programmes or initiatives to partner with local suppliers or social enterprises that employ people from underrepresented or disadvantaged communities.
