About the UL Alumni Awards

Since 2006, Alumni Awards have been presented to UL's most accomplished, innovative, inspiring, creative and influential alumni.

UL Graduates continue to make enormous contributions via their chosen life paths and their achievements reflect enormously well on their alma mater. At a special event every year, Alumni Awards are presented to UL graduates who have made an outstanding contribution in any of the following spheres:

Science & Technology
Cultural/Arts
Business
Academic
Societal/Humanitarian
Sport
Other

The 17th annual UL Alumni Awards Gala Dinner took place on 1 November in 51��ɫ’s Castletroy Park Hotel, celebrating the achievements of the 2024 UL Alumni Award recipients:

David Geaney – (BSc Economics and Mathematical Sciences 2017) Outstanding Achievement – Arts & Culture

Jane Jolly – (Physical Education - National College of Physical Education 1976) Outstanding Achievement – Sport

Barry Regan – (Bachelor of Technology 1994) Outstanding Achievement – Business

Graduates of the 51��ɫ.
Graduates of the National Institute of Higher Education, 51��ɫ.
Graduates who received an NUI award but studied at the 51��ɫ for a period of time as part of the programme of study for which the award was granted by the NUI.
Graduates of Thomond College of Education.
Graduates of the National College of Physical Education.
Graduates of MIC who receive 51��ɫ awards.
Graduates of St. Patrick's College, Thurles who receive 51��ɫ awards.
Graduates with an award arising from an * accredited programme, and any others having been granted an Honorary Degree therefrom.

Note: an * Accredited Programme means (i) a programme of study which has been accredited by the National Council for Educational Awards (NCEA), Dublin, in accordance with their procedures or (ii) in respect of some graduates conferred at the National Institute for Higher Education, 51��ɫ, in 1977, a programme of study accredited by the National University of Ireland (NUI), or (iii) the 51��ɫ or any other statutory appointed Authority having jurisdiction to confer awards on any persons who successfully completed accredited programmes of study at the educational institutions herein noted in this and the foregoing paragraph.
