Staff DisAbility Committee 

Our Staff DisAbility Committee supports staff who have a disability, have a long-term health condition or neurodivergence and supports those working with or who are interested in inclusive practices.

Universal Design and Inclusive Practice

Universal Design (UD) in higher education is about making the entire educational experience more inclusive for students, parents, staff, instructors, faculty, and visitors with diverse characteristics, including gender, race, ethnicity, age, stature, or disability.

Inclusive practice embeds inclusivity in our day-to-day practices, policies, and procedures so everyone feels valued, respected, and supported.

Inclusive recruitment 

UL aims to ensure that people with disabilities have equality of opportunity by having full access to employment, training, promotion and career development within the University.

Autism in UL Special Interest Group 

at the 51±¾É« (Autism@UL SIG) is an interdisciplinary group of people with a focus on autism: researchers, therapists, family members, as well as representatives of autism family organisations in and around 51±¾É«. 

Student Experience – Inclusive Learning 

The Centre for Teaching and Learning provides resources to support staff in applying inclusive practices within their teaching, learning and assessment. Students can also access a variety of resources to promote academic integrity, increase their digital skills and access student success and learning supports.

Accessibility hub

51±¾É«'s Accessibility Hub focuses on creating an inclusive environment by providing accessible physical spaces, digital resources, and support for students, staff, and visitors. 

The website includes resources on digital accessibility, creating accessible content, assistive technologies, campus facilities, and training. 

It also outlines initiatives for ensuring accessibility in web and software systems, as well as compliance with accessibility standards.
