Language for Work (LfW): Supporting Work-Related Second Language (L2) Learning in Ireland

This is a forthcoming national participatory TRAINING AND CONSULTANCY EVENT facilitated online by experts from the European Centre of Modern Languages (ECML).
The co-ordinators of this national event are Dr Deirdre Nà Loingsigh (EIC), Dr Catherine Martin (MLAL), Ciara Considine (EIC) & Tara Robinson 51±¾É« & Clare Education & Training Board.
The ECML funded Language for Work (LfW) project supports development of work-related language skills which are crucial to the integration and participation of second language (L2) adult migrants and ethnic minorities in the workplace. This national Language for Work (LfW) event aims to bring together a broad range of stakeholders to network and share ideas about language for work for L2 learners in Ireland. The event will offer practical guidance for teachers, policymakers and others involved in supporting work-related L2 learning by adult migrants and ethnic minorities across the country.
Participants will be introduced to resources and findings from the ECML Language for Work Project . There will also be opportunities to actively engage with other attendees, engage with experts in the field, and learn about language for work interventions and initiatives in other countries. Attendees will also be able to interact with a broad group of stakeholders in thinking about what practical steps might be taken to support language learning for the workplace in Ireland.
