AHSS Alumna Deirdre McGuirk has been appointed as Curator of the Michael Davitt Museum in Co. Mayo, a community museum dedicated to the Irish revolutionary, land reformer, and activist Michael Davitt (1846-1906).
Deirdre holds a BA Hons in History and Geography from ATU, Mayo, and has many years experience as a tour guide in Co Mayo providing walking tours in Westport. She has carried out many roles at the National Museum of Ireland - Country Life as a tour guide and with the education department and the Irish Community Archive Network (ICAN). Deirdre graduated in 2023 from the MA in Public History and Cultural Heritage programme directed by Dr Karol Mullaney-Dignam, completing her dissertation under the supervision of Dr Niamh Nic Ghabhann Coleman.
